Colin Farrell on inviting Tom Cruise to the screening of Steven Spielberg’s next film

Colin Farrell reflects on the moment Tom Cruise personally invited him to a special screening of Steven Spielberg’s new film Disclosure day, and saying yes was an easy decision.

Talk to Variety to the Sugar Premiering season 2 at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Farrell described Cruise as a true movie enthusiast who brings that energy to everything he does.

“Tom is a lot of fun and he’s a lover of cinema and he loves the theatrical experience, of course. I think we all know that,” he said.

“So when he sent out invitations to a few of us to attend a screening of Steven Spielberg’s next film, it was a no-brainer.”

Farrell was part of a select Cruise group assembled for the occasion, which also included Dakota Fanning.

The trio have their own Spielberg connections, Farrell starred alongside Cruise in Minority reportwhile Fanning played Cruise’s daughter in War of the Worlds.

A photo that circulated on social media showed the three of them holding a rather eye-catching personalized Spielberg popcorn bucket, featuring the director’s likeness and a Disclosure day cap, completely consistent with the Cruise brand.

THE Mission: Impossible the star liked in her own social media post after the screening.

“Nothing better than a summer movie night at Spielberg in a packed room with friends!” » he wrote, before addressing Spielberg directly.

“Steven thank you for all the hours of joy you gave us at the movies!! It was a great honor and pleasure to have worked with you and to call you my friend. Congratulations to my dear friend Emily and the entire group of artists who created this film. You did superb. We all loved it Disclosure day!!”

The alien thriller Disclosure day opens in theaters Friday.
