Deerfield Public Schools District 109 responded to a Federal Investigation into the title IX which was launched on allegations of administrators forcing the girls of the college to change in the same locker room as a transgender student.
The district made a declaration to PK Press Club Digital insisting that its actions were rooted in the law of the State of Illinois.
“Deerfield Public Schools District 109 complies with the law of the State. The Human Rights Act in Illinois prohibits all public school districts from discriminating on the basis of gender, including gender identity, and obliges that students must be authorized to access the changing rooms and the bathrooms that align with their gender identity,” said the press release.

“We are sensitive to the needs in terms of confidentiality of all our students from the college and we make sure that no student is required to transform into a gymnasium uniform for the physical education course in front of others. When our two colleges were renovated in 2017, we added five private emmeting stations in each locker room that are available for all students.
The district also says that it will work with local families to determine the next steps.
“The District and the Board of Directors are united to our leaders and educators on this issue and have a common commitment to respect the law,” said the press release.
“The district and the board of directors call upon all those who express concerns or perspectives on this issue with our staff and our educators to do so in a respectful and civil manner. We are happy to work with families to respond to any individual concern and determine the next appropriate steps to support the well-being and participation of your child.”
