Dana White assumes McGregor tore his ACL during his fight with Holloway

After five years outside the Octagon, Conor McGregor’s return lasted just one minute.

McGregor opened his Saturday fight against Max Holloway aggressively, attempting a running kick before throwing a headbutt moments later. However, he slipped twice as it was obvious he had injured his knee.

He tried to fight out of it, but nearly two minutes into the fight, he grabbed his right leg again and referee Mike Beltran called the fight after just 69 seconds.

In his first Instagram post since the fight, McGregor vowed to come back from his injury.

“We’ll be back,” McGregor said after introducing his new energy drink.

Before that, McGregor introduced the “Mac” drink, enjoying it alongside his wife. McGregor then shared his faith.

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. We will be back. Let’s go.”

McGregor posted an emotional message the day after the fight, saying his “head gasket was gone.”

“Destroyed. I had no injuries before the fight. I was kicking, planting and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I’m beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell,” he said on X.

UFC president Dana White said he assumed McGregor was suffering from a “damaged ACL.”

McGregor was competing in his first fight since July 2021 when he lost to Dustin Poirier due to a devastating leg injury. He has only won one fight since 2020.
