And what can we learn from this about what to expect from season 3, which is being filmed as we speak? I’ll answer these questions and more below. This is your one and only warning: full spoilers immediately follow For Daredevil: Born Againthe season 2 finale.
How does Karen Page’s trial end in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 8?
With Karen’s freedom still at stake afterwards Daredevil: Born Again In Episode 7 of Season 2, Matt Murdock – aka the titular hero’s civilian identity – continues his defense as Page’s lawyer, alongside co-counsel Kirsten McDuffie.

The trial proceeds as planned, with both sides trading verbal blows and twisting every piece of evidence in their favor to gain the upper hand.
Eventually, Murdock uses the first of two trump cards up his sleeve – calling none other than Archnemesis and New York Mayor Wilson Fisk to the witness stand.
As gasps echo through the courtroom, Fisk – who, in a show of force, brings with him the full might of his Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) – enters the room and takes the stand to say he will tell the truth and nothing but the truth.
Unsurprisingly, Murdock’s intense cross-examination of Fisk further ratchets up the tension. Murdock provides ample evidence that Fisk was responsible for the Northern Star, its massive weapons shipment, the deaths of his first and second mates when Daredevil – aka Matt’s vigilante alter ego – discovered said cargo, And the freighter collapses and sinks when Fisk realizes his criminal activities might be exposed. In response, Fisk denies having any knowledge of these claims.
Despite the evidence he provides, Murdock quickly realizes that he is losing. Indeed, the judges – who, fearing for their own lives, are in Fisk’s back pocket – are clearly not swayed by Murdock’s testimony.
This is where Murdock makes his second Hail Mary appearance: he publicly reveals that he is Daredevil. The reason? As the only other individual to have seen first-hand Fisk’s black market weapons supplies aboard the Northern Star in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 1, this is the kind of testimony that cannot be ignored.
As a stunned courtroom is shaken by this revelation, the aforementioned judges belatedly find their courage and rule in Murdock’s favor, dismissing the case with prejudice and allowing Page to go free.
Is Wilson Fisk still mayor of New York at the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2?
Not only is he dethroned by the climax of this season, but he has also been exiled from the United States.
After Murdock introduces himself as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, an outraged Fisk heads out of court with his allies. There, he is arrested by Governor McCaffrey, who informs him that the Attorney General has brought various charges, including racketeering, bootlegging, and the attempted murder of McCaffrey in the penultimate episode of this season. Additionally, its monetary assets have been frozen and its port of Red Hook is now under government control.
Murdock and his charges soon arrive on the scene, and as the parties begin to exchange verbal blows, Bullseye – who is still searching for Fisk’s head – launches a sniper rifle attack from a building across the street from the courthouse.
As panic spreads through the lobby, Fisk and his supporters flee and barricade themselves in a courtroom. From there, Fisk delivers a warrior-style speech – broadcast live from said court chamber – to sow further division among the people of New York. But no sooner does the live broadcast end than BB Urich releases his latest video, a satirical take on Fisk, in which the investigative journalist calls on the citizens of New York to take a stand against the autocratic mayor and force him from office.
Fisk, besieged and defiant, sends his AVTF troops to prevent Daredevil’s supporters, who have gathered outside the courthouse, from entering, and to find Murdock and Page, who have also barricaded themselves in a nearby office.
In the ensuing chaos, Murdock as Daredevil – with the help of fellow superhumans Jessica Jones and Angela del Toro, aka White Tiger 2.0 – eliminates the AVTF officers sent to them. Meanwhile, ATVF agent Cole North leads a mutiny against field boss Conner Powell when the latter threatens to shoot Daredevil’s supporters outside the courthouse and lets said supporters enter the building.
With the walls closing in around him and two calls from the attorney general asking him to resign as mayor and renounce his American citizenship to avoid prosecution, Fisk loses his cool. Ordering the courtroom to be opened, a bloodthirsty Fisk advances to meet Daredevil’s supporters and seriously injures or kills those who stand in his way.
Reaching the lobby where Murdock, Page, Jones, and Del Toro now stand before Daredevil’s vigilante army, Fisk refuses to give in, causing the followers to rush up the stairs towards him as the aforementioned quartet begs their allies not to do so.
Fisk begins to push back the crowd, but is soon overwhelmed. Fearing that they will tear him apart, Murdock – again, with Jones’ help – reaches Fisk and, castigating his followers, tells them that they are better than that.
Turning to his nemesis, Murdock reasons with Fisk and implores him to accept the Attorney General’s deal. Initially hesitant, Fisk soon realizes that this is the only option – other than another prison sentence, anyway – available to him, and reluctantly agrees to the terms.
Why is Matt Murdock arrested and imprisoned in the season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again?
After ousting Fisk, Murdock and Page enjoy a romantic dinner at the Panna II restaurant after a hard-won battle. There they talk about trying to live a normal life and agree to give it a try.
But their joy is short-lived, as members of the New York Police Department show up. Accusing Murdock of all the crimes he committed as a masked crime fighter – remember, Murdock publicly presented himself as the hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) earlier in this episode and committed numerous offenses as his alter ego – they arrest him and imprison him in the same penitentiary as the AVTF members they arrested.
Does anyone die in the final episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2?
Some AVTF officers and Daredevil supporters do, but no member of the main cast of the Marvel Phase 6 TV show dies.
Of his ensemble, Arty Froushan’s Buck Cashman is the only one who comes close to losing his life – Fisk’s right-hand man and fixer takes a bullet to Bullseye’s abdomen during the courthouse entry scene.
However, even though his fate is left up in the air by the time the season 2 end credits roll, we know he survives, as Froushan has already confirmed he will return in Born again season 3. Unless his one and only appearance next season is in an open casket, we’ll see Cashman again in the not-too-distant future.
Does Spider-Man appear in the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2?
No. It’s been explained countless times before, but, for those who don’t know, Sony owns the live-action rights to Spider-Man and all the characters that operate in his circle. Marvel and Disney are therefore not legally allowed to use the iconic webslinger in a live-action project without Sony’s agreement.
Sony and Marvel have a years-long partnership that allows Peter Parker to exist in the MCU, but it’s a partnership that only allows Tom Holland’s wallcrawler to appear in Marvel’s cinematic juggernaut on the big screen. As such, Spidey is unable to appear in Marvel’s Disney+ productions, which is why he did not appear in Born again season 1 or its sequel.
Fortunately, it won’t be long before we see the Dutch hero again. His next solo film, Spider-Man: A Whole New Dayhits theaters on July 31 – and, depending on who you listen to, it might even feature an appearance from Charlie Cox’s Murdock in some way. For more on one of the most anticipated new films of 2026, check out everything we know so far at Spider-Man: A Whole New Day.
Does the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale have a mid-credits or post-credits scene?
No. Unless you think of the epilogue as an end credits sequence, there are no mid-credits or post-credits moments to stick with. Don’t expect a ridiculously early tease for Born again season 3, therefore. Speaking of which…
Does Daredevil: Born Again season 3 have a release date?
Not yet. However, filming for the third installment of the series began in early March, so production is well underway.
Great, but when could season 3 launch on Disney+, aka one of the best streaming services? Its two ancestors will be presented in March 2025 and March 2026, so the smart money is on the move Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be released next March. That’s my best guess, anyway.
What do we know so far about Daredevil: Born Again season 3?
Not much. However, speaking in an episode of the official Daredevil: Born Again podcast, executive producer Sana Amanat explained that, like its predecessors, Season 3 will continue to draw inspiration from the comic book storylines of Mayor Fisk and Devil in Cell Block D. And, with Murdock behind bars at the end of Season 2 Episode 8, we at least know that next season will open with him serving time for his crimes.
Additionally, official photographs of Jessica Jones, alongside other heroes who first appeared in Netflix’s Marvel-Verse, including Luke Cage and Danny Rand/Iron Fist, have been taken on the set of Season 3. So it’s clear that the next installment in the series will be some sort of Defenders reunion.
As for why they will work together again, I can’t say. However, given that it took this quartet and their allies to defeat the criminal organization known as The Hand in the Netflix film The defenders crossover show, it wouldn’t surprise me if they team up to defeat new enemies who fill the power vacuum left by Fisk.
