Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will place a newly introduced Marvel hero at the heart of its story – and answer a long-standing question fans have been asking since their Netflix show ended eight years ago.
Speaking of the final edition of season 2 of the Daredevil: Born Again Official podcast showrunner Dario Scardapane and Marvel head of television Brad Winderbaum gave a small but significant preview of the series’ next episode. And, according to both men, the third chapter of the Marvel project will spotlight a specific superhuman that has been referenced throughout the second half of this season.

The individual Winderbaum and Scardapane are talking about is, of course, Luke Cage.
Played by Mike Colter in the Netflix Universe of Marvel TV shows, all of which are now considered canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Cage makes the briefest appearance in Daredevil: Born Againthe season 2 finale.
This appearance comes after Colter fielded several months of questions about reprising her role in the MCU – questions that started coming after Krysten Ritter was revealed to be returning as Jessica Jones in Born again season 2 last May. Then, more recently, it was confirmed that Colter would return as Cage after being pictured in a real-life location for Season 3, alongside Ritter and fellow actor Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, in late March. Colter followed up these photographs by announcing his return on his own Instagram page earlier this month.

It doesn’t appear that Cage will only have a minor supporting role in Daredevil: Born Again neither did the following season of season 2.
Indeed, discussing Cage’s role in Born again season 3, Winderbaum teased, “I’m comfortable saying this: Luke Cage is going to play a big role in season three.” So we can expect to see many of Harlem’s unbreakable heroes in the third outing of the Marvel Phase 6 TV show.
How Daredevil: Born Again season 3 could answer big questions about Luke Cage’s past
Full spoilers immediately follow for Luc Cage on Netflix.
Naturally, Colter’s long-awaited return as Cage prompted three big questions. what has he been up to since we last saw him in his self-titled film A Netflix series? How did this lead him to work for Matthew Lillard’s infamous Mister Charles until, as Cage reveals in Season 2 Episode 8, he was relieved of his duties? And when did he get back with Jessica, have a child, then move away from them before finally reuniting with his family in the season 2 finale?
The first is arguably the most important of this trio, mainly because it will help answer the other two.
Indeed, Luc Cage season 2 ended with the eponymous hero taking over Harlem’s Paradise, aka the high-end nightclub owned and operated by crime boss Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes. At the time, it seemed like Cage would start going down a darker path and become either an anti-hero or a full-blown villain. However, with Luc Cage canceled shortly after its season 2 debut, fans weren’t given the chance to gain closure on this particular storyline.
A little disappointed we won’t see crime boss Luke Cage’s arc set up at the end of LC Season 2.May 6, 2026
This is where Born again Season 3 could — and, from the sound of it, will — fill us in on what Cage has been up to since that series unceremoniously ended. As part of the Cage-centric discussion on the latest episode of the aforementioned podcast, Scardapane said, “In one small moment at the end of this episode, there’s quite a story left to tell.
“And the funny thing is, it’s kind of like hiding an Easter egg if you know these characters. [Cage and Jones] story, and you know some of the comics, you’ll know what’s going on. “
I guess we should prepare ourselves for lots of Cage and Jones based flashbacks, lots of family melodrama, and specific references to the premiere’s Netflix show that will further tie it to Daredevil’s Disney+ show, then!
