- Discord announced that its Nitro subscription service will now include Xbox Game Pass
- New Starter Edition will include access to over 50 games and 10 hours of cloud gaming
- All the benefits of Nitro will also be available with Game Pass at no additional cost
Discord has been at the center of controversy in 2026, due to its push for global age verification on the social platform, but its latest move may win over some users.
In a new blog post, Discord announced that its Nitro subscription will now include the new Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition subscription, at no additional cost, allowing users to enjoy the benefits of Nitro’s high-quality streaming and customization capabilities, as well as access to over 50 games through Game Pass.
This comes after an actual leak earlier in April, constituting one of Xbox’s big moves under new CEO Asha Sharma. This is a big step for Xbox and Discord, but even more so for the latter, considering the large number of its users who were threatening (or proceeding) to cancel Nitro subscriptions to stop the age verification plans.
Those plans haven’t gone anywhere, as they’re still slated for late 2026, but adding the Game Pass benefits to Nitro may help shift the focus elsewhere – and while the library is significantly smaller compared to PC Game Pass (which has over 300 games), it’s two birds with one stone for consumers, for just $9.99 / £9.49 / AU$14.99 (which may vary due to localized prices).
Some of these games included are Fallout 4, Valley of Stars, Galactic Deep RockAnd Overcooked 2including access to 10 hours of cloud gaming every month. It’s not clear how upgrades to higher tiers will work through Discord’s Nitro subscription, or whether the cost of upgrading will be reduced, but it’s a good start.
The new addition to Nitro is currently in its rollout phase, which will span the next few weeks, and Discord emphasizes that this collaboration is essentially its way of encouraging users to join Nitro specifically, “if you’ve been on the fence” about the service.
