The robust smartphones market is changing, many brands now incorporating large batteries and even portable projectors in their devices.
The Chinese brand 8849 is known for these devices, having already published models like the 8499 Tank 2 Pro and Tank 3 Pro.
The company has now announced the 8849 Tank 4, a commercial smartphone which includes a DLP projector of 100 combinations. It supports the automatic point of view assisted by laser up to 4 meters, the micro-laser, the night vision camera and a RGB campsite light.
Projector phones sculpt a niche
The Tank 8849 4 sports an AMOLED screen of 6.78 inch with a resolution of 1200 x 2650 and a cooling rate at 120 Hz. Measuring 174.3 x 85.4 x 23.9 mm and weighing 538 g, it is only slightly smaller than the best robust market tablets.
This phone is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 7300 chip, associated with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage, extensible via the TF card.
It houses a battery of 11,600 mAh, which represents about half the capacity of the 3 pro tank, but always large for daily use. The device also supports the 66W cable charging load. Although it lacks wireless load, it compensates for the reversed load of 25 W via its type C 2.0 port.
For photography, the phone is equipped with a triple rear camera configuration, including a 50 MP main sensor, an omnivision 64MP night vision camera with infrared filling lights and a 3X 8MP zoom lens.
Like other robust smartphones, this device supports resistance to water and dust IP68. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, double SIM support and compatibility with GSM networks at 5G NR, offering download speeds up to 2.34 Gbit / s.
Samsung once tried in the projector’s phone category with the Galaxy bundle released more than a decade ago. However, the company finally left the space due to high costs and the adoption limited at the time.
However, with new offers like the 8849 Tank 4, as well as similar products like Oukitel WP100 Titan and DOOGEE against Max Play, projector phones can be ready for a return.
