Dar to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts, as well as UN officials, to discuss regional issues

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in New York on Tuesday for an official visit from May 26 to 28, during which he will participate in a high-level public debate of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) organized under the Chinese presidency of the council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the high-level debate is titled “Maintaining international peace and security: respecting the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and strengthening the international system centered on the United Nations.”
Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 arrived in New York for an official visit from May 26 to 28.

Upon his arrival in New York, the Deputy Prime Minister was received by the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, and the Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamer Ahmad Atozai.
During his visit, Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries, as well as senior United Nations officials, to discuss regional and international developments and issues of common interest.

On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Pakistan welcomed the timely Chinese initiative focused on strengthening multilateralism and strengthening the central role of the United Nations in responding to global challenges.
Dar will also attend a meeting of the Group of Friends on Global Governance on May 28 under the theme “Reforming and Improving Global Governance, Working Together to Address Global Challenges.”
Dar was earlier in Beijing, after accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who arrived in Hangzhou on Saturday to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
