FBR granted additional charge of key posts to 27 senior officers of Inland Revenue Service
ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to introduce major administrative changes to achieve tax collection targets and improve the efficiency of the country’s tax system.
As part of these measures, the tax administration has started to strengthen its administrative capacity by assigning additional responsibilities to senior officials of various backgrounds.
According to sources, the FBR has given additional charge for key posts to 27 senior officials of the Inland Revenue Service.
Grade 20 officers have been given temporary responsibilities on an acting basis for a period of three months, which will remain in force until permanent appointments are made.
These detachments were carried out in Lahore, Islamabad and other major cities. Apart from the FBR headquarters, officers have also been assigned additional charges in regional tax offices, large taxpayer units, medium tax offices and various directorates.
Sources said experienced officers have been assigned to important areas such as tax reforms, refunds, withholding tax, appeals, intelligence and training to ensure timely resolution of taxpayer issues and improve the overall performance of tax operations.
FBR officials said the aim of these measures is to accelerate the tax reform process, strengthen control mechanisms and improve the efficiency of field operations, ultimately leading to better tax collection across the country.
