Teachers injured while intervening in a fight between students wielding sticks; enhanced campus security
At least five people were injured on Thursday when a violent clash broke out between two rival student organizations at the University of Karachi (KU), triggering police intervention and increased security on campus.
According to police, the incident began with a heated verbal exchange between members of the two groups in the lobby of KU’s international relations department. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, spreading to neighboring classrooms and even the staff lounge.
Eyewitnesses reported that students from both camps attacked each other with sticks, leaving several people bloodied. Teachers who tried to defuse the situation were also slightly injured.

A large contingent of police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of violence and managed to bring the situation under control. The injured students were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the affected teachers received first aid on campus.
Officials at the Mobina town police station confirmed that more than five students affiliated with the rival groups had been arrested. The police further said that investigations were underway and cases would be registered based on complaints from both parties.
Following the arrests, members of a student group staged a protest on University Road and Abul Hasan Isphahani Road, causing temporary traffic disruptions.
Meanwhile, the university administration has launched its own investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the confrontation. Security has been increased in and around the Department of International Relations to prevent further incidents.
