Four Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, including a suicide bomber, were killed after security forces foiled an attempted attack on a security force check post in South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.
According to army media, the terrorists sought to breach the security checkpoint; however, their nefarious designs were decisively stopped and foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of the security forces.
“The attackers’ explosives-laden vehicle was attacked and successfully destroyed outside the perimeter of the station, killing a suicide bomber on board, without causing damage,” the statement said.
Security personnel attacked the remaining intruders, forcing three terrorists to a nearby compound, who were then precisely neutralized in a deliberate clearance operation, the ISPR said.
The operation ended without any casualties on the part of the security forces, the press release added.
Security forces have launched a sanitization operation to eliminate any further Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the region, the ISPR said, adding that the relentless anti-terrorism campaign under the ‘Azm e Istehkam’ vision will continue in full swing to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
The incident occurred a day after security forces killed 12 militants in response to a terror attack on a joint police checkpoint in Tank district of KP.
The attack took place on the night of July 23-24, when militants attempted to breach the security of the checkpoint; However, their attempt was thwarted by the rapid response of security forces, SIRP said on Friday.
The ISPR said the troops engaged the fleeing militants and killed 12 of them during the operation. Having failed to achieve their objective, the attackers rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the wall surrounding the checkpoint.
The resulting explosion caused serious damage to the infrastructure of the check post and led to the martyrdom of 15 people, including 12 military personnel, two police officers and a government official from the erstwhile forest department.
Pakistan has seen a surge in terrorist activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021 when the Afghan Taliban came to power.
In response to cross-border terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, Pakistan launched ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’ in February this year.
