“Freddy is one of hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to the United States and experience the incredible hospitality and generosity of the American people,” Adams told PK Press Club Digital in a recent phone interview.

“There’s no place like America. We’re the biggest, loudest, most exciting destination on earth. And things like unlimited chips and salsa, Buc-ee’s, Bass Pro Shops, Route 44 at Sonic delivered by young men and women on roller skates delivered right to your car door. These are all experiences and opportunities you can’t get anywhere else. We are one country, but in reality, the 50 states are like 50 different countries.

Adams said he knew he had to reach out when Freddy declared his love for country music star Ella Langley.

“I think it was Ella Langley’s statement that he was a big fan of Ella Langley. So was I. And I thought he was just the kind of guy that was brought to America. What a great ambassador for our country. What a great person to represent what America is really about,” Adams said.

Freddy was invited to the Langley concert Thursday night and got to meet her. Visiting Langley was one of many surreal experiences the German football fan was able to have during his trip to America.

The German football fan and his two friends toured the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans facilities, were hosted in a hotel by Houston Texans great JJ Watt, toured LSU and Tiger Stadium, spent time with the Houston Police Department, met with the mayor of Houston, and toured the International Space Station with NASA.

Adams, whose family is German and speaks the language fluently, said he was able to connect with Freddy and invite him on a tour of the State Department, the White House and an opportunity to see the “most beautiful capital in the world” in Washington, DC. Adams said it was important to recognize Freddy as someone who is not from America but who nonetheless loves the country.

“I think it’s really important that we recognize people who truly love and appreciate our country, who are not Americans. People who genuinely come here and feel great affection for the American people and the American way of life, and for everything that makes us so unique and so exceptional,” Adams said.

“Americans are the most hospitable people, and as Ambassador of Tourism, Secretary of Tourism of the United States, it is my responsibility to exemplify that hospitality by inviting Freddy to come and enjoy an unforgettable and unique experience by visiting the interior of the White House up close and personal.”

Adams said he hadn’t yet spoken with President Donald Trump about Freddy, but he knew the German fan would be “very welcome.”

“I haven’t had a chance to talk to the president about it yet, but the president is generally aware of a lot of what’s going on. That I can assure you. I think Freddy will be welcome.

Freddy is one of many fans getting an incredible first experience in America thanks to their World Cup trip. Adams is thrilled that the world now has an unfiltered view of what outsiders think of America.

“No one puts on a show like America, and no one is as friendly and as welcoming and as hospitable as the American people. I’m so glad that the vilification of America and the American people by many international media outlets and by people who have a vested interest in attacking America and are envious of us is happening now through social media, which is a direct, unfiltered view of what people really think,” Adams said.

“We get the real story and the real feelings of everyday people around the world about America and the American people.”

Adams called American hospitality an “industry benchmark” and said the World Cup helped dispel many ideas about the country.

“American hospitality is the industry standard. That rather than hearing through fake news how horrible America is, how dangerous and expensive it is, and how inhospitable and unwelcoming Americans are to people from other countries. We always knew that was absolute nonsense. And now we have very solid evidence from these Japanese tourists, from these German tourists, from people from all countries who have come here to experience the World Cup. world,” Adams said.

“We are unrivaled. We are unmatched. We are unparalleled in terms of scenery and offerings. Whatever you like, whatever you like, America has it.”
