Quetta:
The Baloch Yakjehti committee (BYC) accused the police of having used excessive force against the demonstrators in the provincial capital, claiming to have opened fire on peaceful demonstrators, killing three people and injured dozens, including seven in critical condition.
However, the spokesman for the government of Balutchistan, Shahid Rind, refuted the allegations, declaring that the demonstrators had used stone violence and unrestricted violence, injuring several police officers, including a constable.
The government argued that the police acted in accordance with the law to erase a blocked national road, while BYC insisted that the security forces used unnecessary force to remove a peaceful demonstration.
The authorities have sealed the red zone, citing security problems and the need to maintain public order.
The Balutchistan National-Mégal Party (BNP-M) and the National Party (NP) condemned what they describe as excessive force against peaceful demonstrators and urged the government to engage in dialogue to resolve the situation.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the leader of BYC, directs the demonstration and promised to continue the sit-in to Saryab Road, demanding justice for the victims.
Thursday, relatives of missing persons, who demanded that they be authorized to identify the corpses brought to the civilian hospital, had managed to take a certain number of corpses from the hospital morgue.
Although it was not clear if they had positively identified the bodies as belonging to their missing relatives, the hospital officials told Dawn that demonstrators linked to the Baloch Yakjehti committee (BYC) have made their way into the morgue and won at least five bodies.
