Residents reported heavy firing and powerful explosion in Block 6 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, sparking panic
Heavy firing and a powerful explosion were reported from Gulistan-e-Jauhar in Karachi on Saturday, triggering panic among residents.
According to reports, intense firing was heard near Meteorological Chowrangi on University Road. A loud bang was also heard before the shot.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson said that a report of an explosion near Block 5 of Gulistan-e-Johar was received by Rescue 1122 on Saturday.
He said the Rescue 1122 command and control center received the information and immediately dispatched a team to the scene of the incident.
He added that 1122 rescue teams have reached the scene and are currently assessing the situation on the ground.
Following this information, a large contingent of police arrived on site.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and contacted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi.
According to the chief minister’s spokesperson, Shah sought a detailed report on the incident from the Additional IGP Karachi.
He ordered the police to immediately determine the nature of the incident, reach the scene without delay and ensure that all necessary measures are taken.
