- The next Siri 2.0 update could be called a beta
- There may also be a waiting list to access its features
- We expect it to be announced on Monday at WWDC 2026.
It’s fair to say that Apple’s efforts to integrate Apple Intelligence upgrades into Siri and bring the digital assistant to the level of Gemini or ChatGPT have been somewhat laborious so far, and it looks like the big Siri 2.0 update we’re expecting very soon won’t be simple either.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who most often gets relevant news about Apple, says the revamped and improved version of Siri, launching with iOS 27, may initially come with a “beta” label.
Gurman also suggests that there is “the possibility of a waitlist” before you can try the improved features – something you may remember Apple did with the original. Apple Intelligence launch in 2024.
We’ve been hearing rumors about this Siri upgrade for months, and according to Gurman, it will transform Siri “from a voice command system into a do-it-all AI companion.” Some of the incoming features were announced with Apple Intelligence in 2024 and then delayed, including deeper access to apps and users’ personal information.
Powered by Gemini
Apple has referred to the new Siri as “beta” internally, which suggests the assistant won’t be marketed as fully finished. There is also the option of a waitlist for people wanting to try new features, an approach used when Apple Intelligence initially launched. https://t.co/hce6gyWX8JJune 5, 2026
We also know that Apple signed a deal with Google to use Gemini’s AI models to power the new and improved Siri 2.0. However, this won’t look like the existing ChatGPT integration: there will be no mention of Gemini in the app, although it will be Google’s technology that determines relevant AI responses.
According to previous leaks, Apple will once again use the privacy argument to suggest that its AI offerings are “fundamentally different” from what’s on the market, with tighter controls on the amount of user data shared and stored.
We’ve also already seen what the updated Siri might look like on iOS, with animation coming out of the iPhone’s dynamic island when the AI assistant is invoked. Siri Chats should also be synced across all devices, for the first time.
This major Siri upgrade – perhaps with a beta label and a waitlist attached – will be shown off at the WWDC 2027 event on Monday, June 8, when Apple will give us a preview of this year’s iOS 27 software update. We’ll be covering the event live here on TechRadar, so check back for updates.
