Pink’s 15-year-old daughter Willow is the sole reason the global rock star agreed to host the 2026 Tony Awards, after giving her famous mother the all-important seal of approval to accept the job.
Speaking about how the hosting gig came together, the Grammy winner, 46, revealed that her first reaction when asked to headline the 79th annual ceremony was to ask her teenage daughter for permission.
Pink admitted that she felt like a bit of an imposter since she had never played herself on Broadway, which she said was a fair requirement for the role.
However, when she asked Willow the question, the teen was so excited about landing a ticket to the prestigious event that Pink happily accepted the offer, even though she felt very nervous about pleasing her daughter, who she describes as a notoriously tough crowd.
The mother of two hosted the ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 7, and made sure to give Willow a warm greeting from the start of her opening monologue.
Jokingly introducing herself as the second biggest Broadway fan right behind her daughter, the singer joked to the star-studded audience that while she didn’t really know where Willow was sitting in the huge room, she certainly didn’t take the hosting job just so her child could take selfies backstage on Broadway, before playfully admitting that they had already managed to take a few before the show.
It was truly a family affair that evening, as Willow later joined her mother on the red carpet alongside Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, and their nine-year-old son, Jameson.
