Mexico and England will face off in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 8 p.m. ET from Mexico City Stadium.
Mexico won all four of its matches in this tournament, scoring eight goals while maintaining a perfect defensive record throughout the group stage and its round of 16 victory over Ecuador. Julian Quinones leads the team with three goals in the tournament, while Raul Jimenez added two, including a goal against Ecuador that gave him 47 international goals for Mexico.
England are through to the round of 16 for the third tournament in a row. Harry Kane has been the decisive figure, scoring five times so far, including both goals in a comeback win over DR Congo. Kane became the first England player to score twice in a World Cup knockout match since Gary Lineker in 1990.
Below are the details on how to watch.
How to watch Mexico vs England
Mexico vs England Preview
Jude Bellingham finding space between Mexico’s midfield and backline is the key battle in this one.
Bellingham is England’s connector, dropping deep to dictate play and arriving late into the box himself. England have produced 53 chances in four matches, and many of the best start with him. Crisp touches in these inside channels, and England quickly turn possession into real danger.
Mexico’s response is discipline. El Tri haven’t allowed a goal in four matches, and that spine closes space before attacks reach the box. Foul Bellingham early, force him aside and the game stays on Mexico’s terms.
Look at England’s early possessions in the middle third. That will tell you if Bellingham leads this game or gets swallowed up by Mexico’s form.
Player to watch

Kane is one of the best center forwards of his generation. So far in the tournament, Kane has been very effective in pulling England out of otherwise poor performances. In this match, Kane will face the best defensive team in the tournament who will be very focused on stopping him.
But even though Kane may be stopped from scoring, he can also be very valuable by dropping back into midfield and helping create plays. If Kane struggles in this match, it could be a very long day for the Three Lions. On the other hand, if Kane can find the back of the net early, it will make life easier for England to manage the crowd and the altitude until the end.
