Elsewhere, McLaren and Red Bull have shown encouraging pace in recent races, but neither has consistently matched the speed of Mercedes and Ferrari. All four Red Bull-backed cars, including both Racing Bulls, qualified in the top 10, suggesting the powertrain is working well. It’s much the same story for McLaren, who will start sixth and eighth.
One of the main talking points heading into Silverstone this year is how the new cars and new 2026 regulations will perform on such a fast and near-flat circuit. It features many high-speed turns, meaning drivers will have less time to recharge their batteries. As a result, we might see more super clipping at the end of straights, which would not allow for better visualization.
