- Google Calendar offers more color options to personalize events
- Up to 200 colors now available to users
- It is currently rolling out and all users are ready to receive the update
If you’ve ever thought that your Google Calendar view could benefit from an extra splash of color, then you’re in luck.
The company has revealed a major expansion of the customization options available for its calendar app, allowing users to paint a rainbow of colors to help them define their day and mark important events.
In fact, Google Calendar will now offer up to 200 custom colors for individual events, a huge increase from the 11 currently offered.
More customization for Google Calendar
In a blog post about Google Workspace updates announcing the news, the company said it was responding to “a long-standing feature request from business and personal users for more customizable options.”
Beyond its current “limitation” of 11 preset colors for events, the company says the move will provide much deeper customization for all users.
Users will be able to choose from 24 default colors as part of the expanded color palette, with a full RGB color picker providing access to up to 200 custom colors for individual events via the native web and mobile apps, as well as the Calendar API.
The feature is now rolling out to all Google Workspace customers, as well as Workspace Individual subscribers and users with personal Google accounts, with a full rollout expected to take a few weeks.
It will be enabled by default and can be customized by the user, with no admin controls required.
This is the latest update to Google Calendar as the company seeks to make it more useful to users.
This includes a new Gemini feature that can offer “suggested times” based on attendee availability – offering a number of suggestions based on everyone’s work hours and potential conflicts, then you can review and choose the best slot for everyone.
Google’s calendar app will also now allow users to block off parts of their day to focus on a specific task, similar to how it displays meeting slots: users can add details about the task at hand, customize visibility, and do not disturb settings to ensure they get their work done.
