Jaafar Jackson reacts to ‘Michael’ becoming top-grossing biopic

‘Michael’ surpasses ‘Oppenheimer’ as world’s highest-grossing film

Jaafar Jackson is following in the footsteps of his uncle Michael Jackson in making entertainment history.

The actor, who played the King of Pop in a new biopic, has just reached a major career milestone as Michael officially becomes the highest-grossing film in history, surpassing Elvis, Oppenheimer, Bohemian Rhapsody and many others.

“The highest grossing biopic EVER,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday, June 28.

“Wow!! Thank you all so much,” the 29-year-old continued. “This record, this accomplishment. This was a dream of mine for this film and you all made it come true.”

Jaafar then made a heartfelt prediction about how his late uncle would have felt about the honor.

“I promise you Michael is up there smiling about it. This one’s for him,” he concluded.

Released on April 24, 2026, Michael was an instant success. The film grossed $217 million worldwide in its first week and $977 million so far.

The film also catapulted Jaafar to superstardom, and he opened up about what the film meant to him while presenting an award at the BET Awards this weekend.

“We are so grateful for the love you all showed our film. You filled the theaters. We are truly touched. Your support means everything to the Jackson family,” he said.
