Pakistan received below average rainfall and experienced slightly warmer than normal temperatures in June 2026, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Sunday.
According to the PMD monthly climate report, precipitation across the country remained 19 percent below normal, while average minimum and average temperatures remained above seasonal averages.
The report said the country recorded an average rainfall of 19.6 millimeters during the month, while the national average temperature was 32.0 degrees Celsius, 0.3°C above normal.
Average nighttime minimum temperatures were recorded at 25.2°C, 0.6°C above the seasonal average, while average daytime maximum temperatures reached 38.8°C, remaining broadly within normal conditions.
According to the PMD, the hottest day of the month was recorded on June 1 in Shaheed Benazirabad and June 11 and 12 in Dadu, where temperatures soared up to 51°C. Sibi in Balochistan was the hottest place in the country in June, recording the highest average monthly maximum temperature of 46.7°C.
The report said the coldest night of the month was recorded at 8°C in Astore on June 6 and in Malam Jabba on June 6, 20 and 21.
Babusar remained the coldest place in the country during the month, recording a monthly average minimum temperature of 10.9°C.
According to the report, Joharabad in Punjab received the highest daily rainfall of 71.6 millimeters on June 13, while Malam Jabba became the wettest place in the month with cumulative rainfall of 261 millimeters.
The PMD also noted that El Niño conditions persisted in the Pacific Ocean, with sea surface temperatures exhibiting a positive anomaly of around 1.02°C.
