- “Pinky arrested in Garden area, wanted in “multiple” cases.
A local court in Karachi on Wednesday approved the three-day remand of a prominent woman ‘drug peddler’, Anmol alias Pinky, in a case registered by the Karachi South police.
Police approached the court a day after a request for remand in custody was rejected. The suspect had already been sent to pre-trial detention.
The investigator had cited three main reasons in the pre-trial detention report: identifying the source of cocaine supply, determining financial resources and carrying out a criminal record check (CRO).
During the hearing on Wednesday, the investigating officer again requested remand in the case registered against Pinky. The DIG South said a fresh remand application has been filed in the court, adding that details of previous cases against Anmol alias Pinky have also been collected.
Pinky, who was arrested in Karachi’s Garden area, was a highly wanted suspect and had absconded in at least 10 different cases, according to police.
Police said arms, cocaine and other drugs worth around Rs 1.5 million were recovered from her custody, adding that she was allegedly running a drug supply network in the port city.
“Pinky’s Voice Note”
In addition, investigators recovered several audio messages from his cell phone. In one recording, he is heard warning his contacts of a possible arrest and suggesting that his network would continue through another person who would handle his operations.
“Hello friends! If you are listening to this message, it means either something happened to me or I am no longer alive. If anything happens to me, someone will still contact you from this same number,” Pinky can be heard saying this in the purported voice note.
“The contact person will be a man, my friend, who will take care of the work. If anything happens to me, the work will continue at the same number.”
SSP Sud removed from investigation
In a separate development, SSP South has been removed from the investigation and has been replaced by DIG West Irfan Baloch, according to a notification.
Irfan Baloch has been tasked with investigating all the issues that surfaced during Pinky’s appearance in court on Tuesday. The investigation will also look into alleged protocol violations.
The DIG West has been asked to submit his report within three days, as per the notification. The additional IG said strict action would be taken against any officer or official found guilty of negligence or misconduct.
