Katy Perry embraces her role as a pop superstar — but these days, being Daisy Dove’s mother may be the title she cherishes most.
By celebrating the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris At the Tribeca Festival in New York, the singer opened up about life on and off stage, revealing how important it is for her daughter to see her blossom as her authentic self.
Perry, who shares Daisy, 5, with former partner Orlando Bloom, said she took her little girl with her on the recent Lifetime visit was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.
“It’s always amazing when I take my daughter to work,” Perry said. Popular magazine.
“I think when mothers can be their most supportive, authentic selves, it’s always a good role model for kids to follow. And I’m just happy to model a strong, stable, smart, funny, weird woman for my beautiful daughter.”
And if anyone thinks Daisy is reluctant to share her opinions, Perry quickly shut that idea down.
During a post-screening Questions and answersthe singer laughed when describing her daughter’s growing personality, saying, “She’s a force. She tells me exactly what she thinks.”
For Perry, parenting is less about perfection and more about leading by example. “I think as mothers and fathers, we just set an example for our children, and all we can hope for is that they grow up and become better versions of ourselves — and themselves,” she said.
She added: “I think if I live my most authentic, most free, most supported, most empowered, smartest, sexiest life, she will have a role model, a role model.”
With a world tour, a concert film and a fearless daughter to keep her on her toes, Perry seems determined to lead by example – one authentic moment at a time.
