Kelly Clarkson is embracing her next chapter — and she’s doing it with lots of laughs.
At the opening night of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on July 17, the Grammy winner playfully celebrated life afterward. The Kelly Clarkson Showjoking that she no longer has to worry about company rules.
“I would be fired [by] NBC, but I no longer work there,” Clarkson told the crowd. “We are sad to [it]. It was a fun show.
She then launched into a hilarious comparison between the music industry and office life, admitting that life on a tour bus prepared her for almost everything except HR meetings.
“It’s funny, you go to these HR meetings and you’re like, ‘No one on the road would last,'” she joked, remembering her early days on tour.
“I was 19 on a bus with some guys. “What? I can’t do what?” “Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.”
Clarkson also poked fun at the endless debate over commenting on someone’s appearance.
“I’m like, bitch! You better write a memo about it, write a song about it,” she joked. “I just think it’s so stupid. It makes people feel good when you say, ‘Oh, you look really good.'”
After jokingly singing: “No more HR meetings!” » she revealed that she was probably everyone’s least favorite colleague during workplace training.
“Actually, everyone hated going to HR meetings with me because I’m a nerd,” she admitted, explaining that she was constantly interrupting sessions with questions before adding, “I don’t have to do it anymore anyway.”
Clarkson announced earlier this year that her Emmy Award-winning talk show would end after seven seasons as she focused on spending more time with her children.
However, fans won’t say goodbye to her for long: she will return as a coach on The voice this fall.
