Lawrence Taylor hospitalized in New Jersey: report

Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was hospitalized Friday, TMZ reported.

The New York Giants legend suffered a medical emergency in New Jersey, warranting his visit, the outlet reported.

Taylor’s status is unclear at this time, but TMZ said it doesn’t appear to be serious, citing “those close to him” about him.

Taylor’s former Giants did not immediately respond to an email.

LT is widely considered the greatest linebacker to ever play the game. He was a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, including in his rookie season.

He won two Super Bowlsmade 10 consecutive Pro Bowls and was named MVP of the 1986 season. He also remains the franchise’s all-time sack leader, which includes his 9 ½ sacks in his rookie season, before sacks became a statistic.

This happened despite a lavish lifestyle off the field, which led to legal problems after his playing years. Drug problems also led to health problems later in life.

Taylor showed his support for President Donald Trump in 2024, during a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.

“I grew up a Democrat, and I always was a Democrat, until I met this man here,” Taylor said to applause. “No one in my family will ever vote for a Democrat again.”

Taylor made headlines for the Giants last year when he quickly refused Abdul Carter’s request to wear his number 56 which has been retired by the organization since 1994, just one season after his retirement.
