- Reverse Cinematographer Mode: Creator Original harnesses the processing power of your TV

LG Electronics has teamed up with Prime Video to launch a new picture mode on select LG TVs. The new mode, called Creator Original, will initially be exclusive to three 2026 models: LG C6, LG G6 and LG W6 series televisions.
The launch will be centered around Masters of the Universe film, which will arrive on Prime Video. And if you don’t mind feeling really stupid, you can declare “I have the POWER!” in the LG Magic Remote for LG Smart TVs with webOS 23 or later to display content related to the movie release.
Creator Original is the most interesting addition, however. It promises to offer more control to creators than Filmmaker Mode, because it takes the opposite approach: instead of removing as much processing and image enhancement from your TV as possible, Creator Original takes it, but with rules.
What is Creator Original on LG OLED TVs?
According to LG, Creator Original will allow TV and film studios to set key parameters such as shadow detail and color balance, and control how motion processing and noise reduction are used in your TV’s processing, all to theoretically deliver the creator’s preferred visuals.
In the case of Masters of the UniverseLG says this allows its TVs to “faithfully reproduce every glowing sword clash, Skeletor’s dark lair, and every explosive battle across Eternia.”
Interestingly, the pitch for Creator Original sounds remarkably similar to what Dolby is planning with Dolby Vision 2. Dark area management and motion management control are key features of DV2, which has the same goal as Creator Original: making the most of the capabilities of high-power TVs without sacrificing precision by handing control over to filmmakers and using file data to tell the TV what to do.
However, Creator Original will not have the bidirectional tone mapping and some other features of Dolby Vision 2 Max, which also has a new and improved picture quality engine.
But Creator Original still looks like it can check DV2’s most interesting boxes, and it has one big advantage over it: it looks like it’s going to get there first.
Dolby Vision 2 currently has a streaming partner, Peacock, and a filmmaking partner (StudioCanal), and there is no sign of a launch date yet, although in discussions with Hisense and TCL we learned that this is expected before the end of the year.
On the other hand, LG says that Original Creator Mode for Prime Video “is expected to roll out by the end of this month”, i.e. July 2026, and if Prime Video adds support to more of its enviable Amazon Studios and MGM libraries, it could be a wide range of films using it. Of course, the fact that this only works on three TVs is a little of a limitation.
When we asked LG if it planned to support Dolby Vision 2, it said it would wait to see how support for the format evolves, but said we shouldn’t expect current TVs to get it. So if you’re considering buying the LG C6 or G6, this might be the best you can do for this type of next-gen picture features.
As for the film itself, we rather enjoyed it: in our Masters of the Universe review, we said “this is the relentlessly fun popcorn movie that [we] I was expecting the recent Star Wars movie The Mandalorian and Grogu be.”
