Francesca Scorsese has landed her biggest role yet, joining the cast of Amazon Prime Video Mr. and Mrs. Smith for its second season.
Martin Scorsese’s 26-year-old daughter has been cast as Jane Smith in the upcoming series, which is currently filming in Los Angeles.
She joins former leads Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, alongside newcomers Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder.
Glover, who co-created the series with Francesca Sloane, is also set to direct some of the new episodes.
Plot details and release date remain under wraps for now.
This casting constitutes a significant step forward for Scorsese, who has been steadily building his film career for several years. She made her film debut as a child in the 2004 biopic of her father. The aviatorand later made brief appearances in The deceased And Hugo.
Most recently, she had a starring role in the HBO coming-of-age series. We are who we areand appeared in Christmas Eve at Miller’s Point and this year Roommates.
She has also worked behind the camera, directing short films and a 2025 episode of Martin Scorsese presents: The Saints.
She was refreshingly candid about the perks that come with her last name.
“Of course I have the upper hand on a lot of things, I’m very lucky,” she said. Nylon magazine in 2024, before adding with disarming self-awareness: “I’m just trying to be the best nepo baby I can be.”
Her path to the industry was, according to her, never really in question.
Growing up on his father’s film sets from a young age left a lasting impression on him.
“My father would always bring me to the set since I was very, very little and it would create an altered state of reality for me,” she said. Interview Magazine.
Interestingly, the only person who gave him pause was Martin himself. “The only reluctance came from my father when I said I wanted to become an actress,” she revealed.
“It was when I was a teenager, and I was going through that a little bit.”
The show she is a part of has proven to be a worthy platform.
The first season of Mr. and Mrs. Smithbased on the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie film, earned a 90% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes upon its 2024 release and landed an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
For Francesca Scorsese, this is a huge leap into the mainstream, and it’s clear she’s been working on it for some time.
