MGK Injured After Failed Stage Dive Attempt: ‘It Hurts To Breathe’

Machine Gun Kelly says he will ‘mentally heal’ and return to the stage for his next show

Machine Gun Kelly broke his back after fans failed to catch him as he attempted to dive off a roof.

On Tuesday, June 9, the rapper-slash-rockstar revealed on his Instagram stories that he was seriously injured during his Lost Americana Tour stop in Hartford three days before.

“My back hurts really bad,” MGK said in a video, sitting on a couch as he struggled to get the words out. “I have trouble even just standing or picking up things. I can’t even get up without using my arms and upper body strength to support my back.”

Born Colson Baker, the musician assured his fans that he would not cancel any of his upcoming concerts, although he asked for some understanding. “If I move funky at one of these upcoming shows, I don’t want you to think I’m not giving it my all,” the Grammy nominee said.

“I’m just really, really hurt, man,” he continued. “It hurts to breathe. But I’m going to heal mentally. I know it’s a big mental game and I know my body is pretty indestructible so I just have to… nothing’s more important than the show that’s happening, you know? I’m not canceling anything.”

15 stops left at MGK Lost American World tour, including several shows in Canada. The tour kicked off in November 2025 with dates in Europe and the UK in early 2026.
