New York City became the epicenter of professional wrestling on Sunday night as All Elite Wrestling (AEW) took over Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens.
The consensus is there, and it was pretty clear sitting in the stands right on camera that this instance of Double or Nothing was the best pay-per-view in AEW history. There’s a chance to be the event of the year next to WrestleMania Night 2 – but we can debate that at another time.
The New York audience was electric from start to finish. Mick Foley received huge acclaim when he was introduced as Renée Paquette’s broadcast partner. When the matches began, none received “oos and ahs” from the thousands in attendance.
The intimate environment perhaps made each match more exciting one after the other.

The Stadium Stampede also brought some fun. “Jungle” Jack Perry almost murdered Mark Davis with his friend. Luchasaurus wore a wig and almost kissed Andrade El Idolo. Satnam Singh, Tommy Invincible and Lio Rush made surprise appearances. But ultimately it was Chris Jericho’s team that won.
Meanwhile, Darby Allin tried his best to shave MJF’s head. But it was MJF who took back the AEW World Championship to become a three-time champion at the age of 30. At the end of the event, Kevin Knight turned heel and attacked Allin who was placed on a stretcher.
The returning Kyle Fletcher, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage won the tag team titles, Tay Melo and Anna Jay looked like new challengers for the women’s tag team titles against Megan Bayne and Lena Kross, hell, Eddie Kingston and Mance Warner helped thwart Shane Taylor’s promos.

The stakes attached to each game in front of a red-hot crowd were worth it even if this reporter didn’t get home until 3:30 a.m. ET Monday morning.
AEW will turn its attention to Forbidden Door next month where the winners of the Owen Hart tournaments will be crowned.

A moment for Michin

Saturday Night’s Main Event will get lost in a wild weekend of professional wrestling. But it was a solid night of professional wrestling that fueled some rivalries and set the stage for what’s to come at The Clash in Italy.
Michin has been part of an alliance with Jade Cargill and B-Fab and could get lost in the shuffle on a crowded SmackDown roster. She completely showed herself in the six-woman tag team match on Saturday.
Michin, at one point, sparked a Styles Clash and almost secured the victory for his team.
Her performance highlighted how great of a move she has and reminded the WWE Universe that she is as good as anyone else in the division.
Getting Michin back into the U.S. Women’s Championship picture has to be a must-win for the summer. She proved that she was more than capable of holding her own in the ring and Saturday Night’s Main Event highlighted that point.
Mask vs. Mask continues

How is it that El Grande Americano takes place so much in Mexico? It’s a question many wrestling fans have been asking themselves over the past few months as the days have drawn closer to the Mask vs. Mask match against Original El Grande Americano in Noches de los Grandes.
The match almost didn’t continue
The man believed to be under the mask of El Grande Americano, Marcel Barthel, has been arrested for battery in Florida. However, he was not subject to any travel ban orders, allowing him to work at AAA without any threat of breaking the law.
El Grande Americano appeared emotional during an event organized especially for him. The Mexican fans were asking for it, taking it in to cry a little. You can tell what he means to the crowd.
On AAA programming, the restraining order that sought to keep El Grande Americano and Original El Grande Americano in a Mexican ring was thrown out the window as the two wrestlers and their allies engaged in a massive brawl.
Everything is gearing up for what should be a wild Saturday night.
