National savings increase their profit rates

Special certificate/savings account at 11.6% per annum for the first 5 profit payments

ISLAMABAD:

The government has increased the profit rates of National Savings Schemes and Islamic Sarwa Schemes with effect from May 26, 2026.

According to a notification, the State Savings Department has revised the profit rates of some schemes while maintaining the existing rates for others. As per the notification, it has fixed the profit rate on special certificates/savings accounts at 11.6% per annum for the first five profit disbursements, while the final disbursement will attract an annual return of 12.4%.

Likewise, the department increased profit rates on short-term savings certificates. For the tenors of three months, six months and one year, it set the annual profit rates at 10.84%, 10.58% and 11.23% respectively. The profit rate of the savings account was set at 10% per year.

However, he did not make any changes to the profit rates of Defense Savings Certificates, Bahbood Savings Certificates, Retirees’ Benefit Account and Shuhada Family Welfare Account, which will continue to generate an annual profit of 12 percent.

It increased the profit rates of Sarwa Islamic Term Account and Sarwa Islamic Savings Account. The 1-year Islamic term account will now offer an expected annual return of 10.93%, while the 5-year account will offer an expected annual return of 11.16%.
