The final possession of the Houston Cougars in the final of the NCAA tournament on Monday evening against the Florida Gators was a shoemaker to say it lightly.
Lower 65-63 with a chance to attach it, or better still, finish the game, the cougars could not take a blow. Emanuel Sharp seemed to lift a three -point pointer for the victory, but he just dropped the ball in the place while a defender of the Gators closed to block the shooting attempt.
The cougars had reversals before this possession, but the fact that no shot was raised near the final buzzer had the head scratched on what Houston thought.

Head coach Kelvin Sampson, trying to lead his large cougars team to the first national title of the program, looked on the field while the final buzzer exploded and seemed stunned by what had happened.
In his post-match interview, Sampson obviously knew the question that was going to happen: what was the room, and more importantly, why did not a blow increase?

Sampson said Sharp should have shot this deep 3 -point attempt instead of jumping and letting the ball go (he stood around him because a double dribble was called if he had touched him first).
“These two guys, [Florida’s Will] Richard and [Alijah] Martin, both really very defensively, “said Sampson.” Clayton made a big game on this subject. But that’s why you have to shoot and enter the painting.
“Two is fine.”
But Sampson knows, whatever the defense, getting a ball on the net had to arrive.

“In the end, you have to get a blow,” he said. “You have to do better than that.”
Sampson, however, told ESPN that he was not shouting on his players in the locker room after the match. They fought throughout the tournament, especially withdrawing Duke in a victory in the head in the Final Four.
In this final, the cougars saw their advance of 12 points erased in the second half by the Gators.

“I told them to be disappointed that they have lost, but don’t be disappointed with their efforts,” said Sampson, via ESPN. “These guys have played so hard for each other. And to go so far, get a minute, two minutes, a shot right there at the end of a national championship. They have so much to be proud.”
