NYT Strands today (game #857) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #857, are…
- NAUGHTY
- HELL
- VAURIEN
- FRELUQUET
- SPANGRAM: LITTLE DEVIL
- My rating: Hard
- My rating: 1 clue
There were a few different ways to connect LITTLE and DEVIL and I think I tried them all before finally getting a rare, at least for me, spangram first.
The rest of the board was much trickier. After getting SCAMP I used a hint but even with that I had trouble seeing HELLION – not a word I’ve ever heard before.
Then the non-game word “shallot” helped me see RAPSCALLION before my misery ended with the brilliantly old-fashioned WHIPPERSNAPPER – a great word, but perhaps not the one you use to report a “trouble” to the police.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Tuesday July 7, Match #856)

- BUGGY
- CAR
- TRANSPORTATION
- DILIGENCE
- SLED
