Olivia Rodrigo recalls anxious moment before Glastonbury filming

Olivia Rodrigo has revealed she nearly had an anxiety attack in the toilet moments before headlining the Glastonbury Festival in 2025, one of the biggest performances of her career to date.

Talk to BBC in an interview published Wednesday, June 10, the 23-year-old singer described the nervousness that gripped her backstage before going on stage.

“I remember having a near anxiety attack in the bathroom, like, ‘How am I going to do this? I don’t know if I’m ready,'” she said.

The moment she stood before the crowd, everything changed.

“Something came over me as soon as I got on stage and started singing. I felt completely calm and therefore in my element. I’m not very spiritual or religious, but it’s moments like this that I feel that music is so magical that you can’t really describe it.”

This nervousness made sense given how important the festival was to her.

Rodrigo spoke of the “respect” she feels for Glastonbury and its legacy, as well as the enormous amount of preparation she put into filming.

“I put so much love and care into this whole thing and spent so much time thinking about it. For it to translate… It was totally a dream come true.”

She described the weekend as one of the best of her life.

Rodrigo first appeared at Glastonbury in 2022 before returning in 2025 for a headlining spot which included a memorable appearance from The Cure’s Robert Smith, with the duo performing Just like heaven And Friday I’m in love together.

She now turns her attention to her third studio album, You look pretty sad for a girl so in lovewhich comes out on June 12.

The title itself came about from a moment in the studio with producer Dan Nigro.

“I was having a conversation with him and he was like, ‘You look pretty sad for such a lovestruck girl,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s exactly what I was trying to do,'” she said. Dazed.

“I just think the title reflects what I was trying to research: the pitfalls of being in love. It’s a bit of a mouthful… but it’s worth it. I’m obsessed with the title.”

Two singles, Fall dead And The remedywere already released before the album.

After his release, Rodrigo will leave The unraveling Tour, taking place from September 2026 to May 2027.
