Islamabad:
The opposition alliance under the banner of Tehreek-E-Tahaffuz-eyeen-Eyeen-E-Pakistan (TTAP) announced that it will begin its highly anticipated protest movement with a public rally in Islamabad on April 20, preparing the way for a new political confrontation against the Fortion of PML-N-LED.
According to TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Yousafzai, the rally will be organized by Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and will take place in the G-9 region of the capital.
The spokesman said that important opposition personalities, notably the head of the TTAP party and Pashtunkhw Mill Awami, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, as well as the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), will address the rally, affirming that the invitations will also be extended to other opposition parties to attend the idle.
The announcement came a few weeks after the opposition parties concluded a two -day multi -party conference, which served as a precursor to protest it.
The conference resulted in a declaration requiring the supremacy of the Constitution, the immediate release of political prisoners, the new elections and the cancellation of what it called “unconstitutional modifications” introduced by the current government.
Despite an increasing momentum, the alliance continues to face internal challenges, the chief among them being the reluctance of the Jamiat Ulema-E-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) to officially join the movement. The head of Jui-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman has so far retained his support, citing concerns about the decision-making structure of the PTI in the absence of its imprisoned founder, Imran Khan.
While the leaders of the PTI hoped earlier that JUI-F could arrive on board after Eid, an official agreement has not yet been concluded.
The initiates say that most of the differences between PTI and JUI-F have been resolved, but the question of which will lead the alliance in the absence of Khan is not resolved. Fazl insisted that any representative of PTI leading the movement must be acquired from full authority, which PTI had trouble guaranteeing due to limited access to Imran Khan.
