The Pakistan Navy on Thursday successfully conducted live firing of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship missile, precisely engaging its target at high speed and extended range in a resolute display of preparedness and precision strike capability, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with eminent scientists and engineers, witnessed the missile launch, the statement added.

The missile integrates a state-of-the-art guidance system and advanced maneuverability, enabling it to evade threats, adapt to dynamic conditions and strike with precision and lethality. The successful launch of this indigenously developed system highlighted the fusion of technological excellence and operational expertise, according to a statement issued by the ISPR.

According to the ISPR, these firings reflect the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maintaining credible maritime deterrence in the conventional domain and ensuring maritime security and stability in the region.

The President, Prime Minister, Chief of Defense Forces and Service Chiefs congratulated the participating units and scientists for achieving this milestone, the statement added.

Earlier, the Pakistan Navy had inducted the 2nd PN MILGEM class corvette, PNS KHAIBAR, into its fleet, marking a significant milestone in the modernization and operational capabilities of the service.

Addressing the induction ceremony, Admiral Ashraf highlighted the importance of a “strong, balanced and technologically advanced Navy” to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime interests and ensure the security of vital Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC).

He highlighted the country’s strategic location along major maritime trade and energy corridors as a key factor behind the navy’s modernization efforts.
