The first PN Hangor class submarine, PNS/M Hangor, arrived in Karachi, where it received a traditional naval welcome by senior personnel and officers of the Pakistan Navy.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Pakistan Navy, personnel and families of the crew members, while cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy presented a ceremonial salute.
PN Z9EC helicopters conducted a flypast in honor of the submarine, the Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy said in a statement.
A reception ceremony was held at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard, attended by Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Abdul Munib as the chief guest.
The submarine is equipped with advanced combat systems, modern sensors, Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology and enhanced stealth features.

The arrival of PNS/M Hangor marked a significant milestone in the modernization of the Pakistan Navy and reflects the growing strategic defense cooperation between Pakistan and China, the statement concluded.
The Pakistan Navy had commissioned the first Hangor-class submarine, PNS/M Hangor, in April in a ceremony held in Sanya, China, where President Asif Ali Zardari was the chief guest.
The commissioning ceremony, which was also attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, was described as an important milestone in Pakistan-China defense cooperation and Pakistan Navy’s modernization drive.
President Zardari termed the order a historic step in strengthening Pakistan’s maritime defense posture, reaffirming the country’s resolve to protect its sovereignty and economic lifelines.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Admiral Ashraf highlighted the evolving maritime security challenges and highlighted the need for advanced naval capabilities, emphasizing the role of submarines in safeguarding maritime lines of communication.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir congratulated the nation and Pakistan Navy on the achievement, the Army’s media wing added.
