FM Dar, Fidan discuss Jordanian proposal for Arab-Islamic meeting in phone call

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Thursday expressed deep concern over Israeli military actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as well as repeated violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, during a telephone conversation.
“The two foreign ministers expressed deep concern over continued Israeli military actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, repeated violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem and the worsening humanitarian situation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.
This statement comes against a backdrop of violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli settlers and continued Israeli military operations in Gaza, alongside the expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The day before, fourteen Arab and Palestinian institutions and organizations also launched an urgent appeal calling for collective action to protect occupied Jerusalem amid what they described as an escalation of Israeli violations targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city’s historic identity. The appeal warns of an unprecedented Israeli escalation targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the residents of Jerusalem and the city’s Arab, Islamic and Christian identity, saying the measures aim to create new realities on the ground and consolidate control by force.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance said that FM Dar, during his talks with his Turkish counterpart, exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, with particular emphasis on the conflict in Palestine.
“They reaffirmed their unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and discussed Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate diplomatic efforts in favor of the Palestinian people,” the statement said.

The day before, FM Dar had similar talks with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, with both men expressing “serious concerns” about the situation in the Palestinian territories. Both condemned continued Israeli military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, stressed the need for an “immediate cessation of hostilities” and unhindered humanitarian aid, and also discussed Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to coordinate diplomatic efforts in favor of the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, new Israeli attacks killed three Palestinians and injured 20 others in the latest ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip today, medics said. In southern Gaza, a medical source at Nasser Hospital said two Palestinians were killed and 16 others, including children, injured in an Israeli drone strike targeting civilians in the Al-Majayda neighborhood of Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.
The same source indicated that a young man was lightly injured after Israeli forces opened fire near the Rafah garage area in central Khan Younis.
Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in the eastern suburbs of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, without immediate casualties. In northern Gaza, a medical source at Al-Shifa Hospital said a Palestinian was killed and three others injured, including two children, when an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.

Israeli forces also carry out near-daily military raids in the occupied West Bank, frequently carrying out arrests and attacks on Palestinians and their property. This escalation comes against a backdrop of intensifying attacks by the Israeli army and occupiers in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Israeli genocidal war against Gaza in October 2023.
According to official Palestinian figures, at least 1,182 Palestinians were killed, around 13,000 injured and nearly 24,000 arrested in the occupied West Bank during this period.
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli attacks since October 10, 2025 have killed 1,209 Palestinians and injured 3,943 others, mostly women and children, according to Palestinian authorities.
The pace of Israeli raids and occupier violence has further intensified since Friday’s incident in the town of Tell, near Nablus, where four Palestinians and two Israelis were killed in clashes involving the Israeli occupiers, Palestinian residents and the Israeli army.
Israel has continued its military offensive on Gaza since October 8, 2023. According to Palestinian authorities, the war has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 174,000, while destroying around 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure.
