Pamela Anderson has ruled out involvement in the upcoming Fox film Baywatch reboot, confirming that no one behind the new series has approached her about reprising her career-defining role as lifeguard CJ Parker.
Anderson, who starred in the original Baywatch from 1992 to 1997 alongside David Hasselhoff, tells Deadline in an interview published July 24, she said she had heard little about the new production beyond an initial conversation involving her sons.
“No one has contacted me. I don’t know much about it,” she said.
“I know they were talking to my sons at one point during production, but I don’t think they agreed. I’m not sure what happened there, but I wish them luck.”
The Fox reboot, set to premiere in January 2027, will bring back several original cast members, including Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, Kelly Packard and David Chokachi, alongside new lead actors Brooks Nader, Shay Mitchell and Noah Beck.
Anderson made it clear that the door isn’t completely closed on nostalgia, as it simply isn’t his priority right now.
“It was a great job and I loved going to work on the beach every day. I would have gone there anyway,” she said, adding: “Everything I’ve done has led me here, which is a blessing. But I have no plans to go back. Baywatch“.
When asked if she was curious about what CJ might do today, she suggested that her sons’ involvement might have influenced her.
“If my kids had been involved, I probably would have listened to them. I think I have to keep seeing what else is out there.”
Instead, Anderson says she’s focused on expanding her creativity following her 2024 Golden Globe nomination. The last showgirl.
“I understand there are a lot of really good TV shows out there right now, but I’ve done that before. Now it’s time for me to really play around with different characters,” she said.
“I have options and some things I’m thinking about, including theater again. I want to make really bold choices. I want to surprise people. I want to surprise myself.”
Anderson can currently be seen in the dark comedy Rose bush pruningcurrently showing in select American theaters.
