ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed Pakistani embassies abroad to accelerate efforts to identify employment opportunities for the country’s workforce.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting to review measures to create jobs for Pakistan’s youth.
The Prime Minister ordered that the entire Emigrant Protectorate system be digitalized.
He also headed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program to ensure provision of skills and language courses as well as certifications.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that Pakistan’s workforce was very competent and stressed that the government was taking all possible measures to ensure access to world-class education and global opportunities.
The Prime Minister asked relevant institutions to strengthen their engagement with different countries to align Pakistani certifications with international standards.
The Prime Minister further directed that language education, as well as certifications, be ensured for countries providing employment opportunities and called for a report on the performance of technical and vocational training institutions as well as the establishment of “Destination Country Centres”.
During the meeting, participants were provided with detailed information on employment opportunities for the workforce, especially the youth.
The meeting was informed that 800,000 young people had already registered on the Digital Youth Hub, a platform developed through the partnership between the Prime Minister’s Youth Program and Unicef.
The officials also informed the participants that training programs aimed at helping Pakistanis secure job opportunities were continuing and the country’s missions would provide information on job openings and required qualifications for them through the Digital Youth Hub portal.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Musadik Malik, Attaullah Tarar and Chaudhry Salik Hussain attended the meeting.
State Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani, NAVTTC Chairman Raja Qamar-ul-Islam, Prime Minister Youth Program Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and other senior officials were also present.
