PM to review law and order in Quetta

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair a high-level meeting in Quetta on Thursday (today) on the law and order situation in Balochistan during a day-long visit to the provincial capital, Express News reported.

The Prime Minister will also chair a meeting of the provincial supreme committee. The meeting will review the general law and order situation in the province, while relevant authorities will brief the Prime Minister on the current security situation.

In Balochistan, three major terrorist attacks took place this week in which 42 security personnel and civilians were killed in different parts of the province. The military said Wednesday that counterterrorism operations carried out in response to the attacks had killed 54 terrorists.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Tuesday chaired a meeting in Ziarat after nine policemen were martyred in a terror attack. In a statement, Bugti warned that anyone challenging the state’s mandate would face only defeat and destruction.

The Chief Minister reiterated that indiscriminate operations against terrorists and their enablers will continue until the last militant is eliminated. He stressed that those who raise arms against the state will find no refuge in Balochistan.

Bugti stressed that there will be no compromise on the peace, stability and development of Balochistan and any conspiracy against the province will be crushed with strength, determination and national unity.
