Police assured the court that the challan would be submitted immediately after its completion

ISLAMABAD:

Police informed an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad that they have initiated registered offender (PO) proceedings against Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and PTI leaders Junaid Akbar and Abdul Ghani Afridi in a case related to the November 26, 2024 incidents.

Islamabad police submitted a report to the court in a case registered at Margalla police station. They filed the report in response to the court’s notice regarding non-presentation of challan against the accused, including Afridi, Akbar and Ghani.

According to the report submitted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, non-bailable arrest warrants against the accused were obtained as per the court order dated June 23, 2026. However, despite repeated efforts, the arrest warrants could not be executed, the report said.

The police informed the court that following the failure to execute the arrest warrants, proceedings to declare the defendants proclaimed offenders had been initiated in accordance with the law.

The report further states that once the procedure of the proclaimed offender is completed, the preparation of challan under Section 173 of the Code of Criminal Procedure will enter its final stage.

The police assured the court that the challan would be submitted immediately after its completion. According to the report, there was no negligence, delay or lack of effort at any stage of the investigation or legal proceedings in this case.
