President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday extended his congratulations to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the government and people of Azerbaijan on their Independence Day.
In a message, the President said Pakistan and Azerbaijan are bound by a deep-rooted fraternal relationship dating back to their independence, and which draws strength from a shared faith, rich cultural heritage and common values.
He noted that over the years, bilateral relations have evolved into a strong and enduring partnership characterized by mutual trust, understanding and constant mutual support on issues of fundamental national interest.
President Zardari said the people of Pakistan rejoice in the remarkable socio-economic progress, national cohesion and prosperity achieved by Azerbaijan under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen and diversify multifaceted cooperation, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade, energy connectivity, defense collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, for the mutual benefit of the two brotherly nations.
The President further conveyed his best wishes for lasting peace and prosperity to the Azerbaijani people.
