Prince William has been accused of hypocrisy in targeting his cousins despite his public kiss with Princess Beatrice amid family turmoil.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, once two of the most beloved members of the younger generation of royals, have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons over the past week.
Andrew and Ferguson’s daughters are being dubbed “rot at the heart” of the monarchy after the former prince and his ex-wife’s scandals came to light.
The sisters would be forced to flee their royal residences. Prince William is accused of being behind their potential downfall, despite his public display of affection at a royal event.
The latest damning reports come after it was revealed the sisters had been living rent-free for more than 20 years in their royal residences, but their alleged ‘clandestine shipment’ appears to have opened a new debate over the pampered princesses’ place within the royal fold – if there is one.
Today, with their mother Sarah Ferguson still hiding from the furore surrounding her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the Austrian mountains, we’re told that hasn’t stopped the former Duchess of York from “raging” over calls for her daughters to flee their royal residences and pinning the blame on one royal in particular: Prince William.
A close source claims: “Sarah is furious with the way this has all played out and is accusing William of poisoning the king against his daughters. She says there was a very deliberate effort to turn the tide against Eugenie and Beatrice and she believes William was the driving force behind it.”
The source continued: “As far as she is concerned, they have become convenient scapegoats in William’s obsession with refining the monarchy.”
However, last weekend the royals appeared to have put aside most of their alleged acrimony to celebrate the wedding of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips to NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in the picturesque Cotswolds.
Béatrice, 37, and Eugénie, 35, who attended alongside William the idyllic ceremony which took place in a quintessential village church.
Joined by their husbands, the sisters were seen greeted by William, with the prince appearing to lean in and kiss Beatrice on the cheek.
The nuptials mark the first time the sisters have joined the royal fold so publicly since Christmas and following Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office in February.
“The marriage was a nice gesture, but in her eyes it doesn’t negate this cruel effort that is underway to alienate them. Sarah thinks it is deeply unfair that William seems to have focused on them.
The York sisters apparently believe their fate is in William’s hands and do not want to get further involved in William’s bad books. They know things aren’t looking good, but they haven’t given up hope.
Even ignoring their parents, especially Ferguson, who speculates about making things worse by going after the future monarch with guns.
