Prince William appears to have set the bar high for his reign even before his ascension as he takes on his biggest mission yet for the people.
King Charles, who has faced major controversial issues relating to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, family drama and his battle with cancer, has accomplished significant work during his tenure. However, William seems to steal the show with his work.
The Prince of Wales has announced his flagship charity project in 2023, inspired by his late mother Princess Diana, called Homewards. The program targets the problem of homelessness by not only providing ways to survive, but also addressing the root cause.
According to a report from i Paper, Vicky Spratt shared a behind-the-scenes look at the mission William is pursuing. She shared that “homelessness is a huge problem, one that politicians can never get on top of.”
She argued that critics of the royal might say that “it could do more,” it’s only a limited amount of money” and that “the program will only last five years.”
The report points out that William’s method could succeed where governments have struggled, with the plan to “housing first” and “worrying about everything else afterwards”.
The idea is to test solutions that will solve the problem of rough sleeping and couch surfing. If homelessness is the experience of not having a home and we can give people a place to live first, then surely the rest will follow.
This could be a major power move for William if he finds a way to solve a problem that governments haven’t been able to solve all this time.
