Prince William could cross the pond after steadfastly avoiding his ex-brother Prince Harry’s visit to the UK, only to backtrack on his home turf.
The Prince of Wales, who is royal patron of the English Football Association, previously said he had no plans to attend FIFA matches unless England reached the final.
Kensington Palace has shared a statement from the future king, following the thrilling match between England and Norway.
“Well done England! Great performance in a tough environment,” William wrote, adding a flexed biceps emoji.
“Let us commit to a proud Norwegian team,” he continued. “In the semi-final. Never in doubt!”
Prince William did not participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where England lost the quarter-finals, or the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, where England qualified for the final.
However, he made an appearance at various Euro matches. Most recently, he traveled to Türkiye to watch Aston Villa play in the Europa League final and was left in an emotional state following their victory.
William showed immense support for his team ahead of their departure for the FIFA World Cup, and as he promised, he would make an exception if England beat Argentina in the semi-final and progress to the final.
