The Princess Royal has been working to a tight schedule as she takes on an important task at the request of the cabinet.
Senior members of the working royal family, including King Charles and his wife, had arrived on Tuesday to carry out a series of tasks during the week. It also included a “rare family dinner” at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, where senior officials gathered just before Prince Harry and Meghan’s visit to the UK.
The next day, Princess Anne made an important commitment that matches Queen Camilla’s work as the royal family remains in Scotland.
The royal officially opened Victim Support Scotland’s new Edinburgh office, where she met staff, volunteers and people affected by crime during the visit. The visit comes after Anne attended the conference last year and oversaw the Glasgow office in 2023.
The charity is responsible for providing emotional, practical and trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by crime across Scotland. Volunteers support victims and witnesses throughout the legal process and also refer them to therapy and special services when needed. They are a great help during the legal process which can often isolate victims.
“We were honored to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the official opening of our Edinburgh office,” said Debbie Adams, interim chief executive of the charity.
“We are incredibly proud of this welcoming, trauma-informed space and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from people who have used our new remote evidence sets,” she continued.
“The Princess Royal is a great supporter of Victim Support Scotland, and we greatly appreciate her interest in our work and the time she takes to speak with those affected by crime.”
