Princess Kate receives a warm welcome as she steps out in Reggio Emilia

The Princess of Wales, who embarked on her first ever solo overseas tour to Italy following her battle with cancer, stepped out in a stunning powder blue pantsuit on Wednesday.

Kate had arrived for a two-day visit to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy for her passion project, the Center for Early Childhood Development.

As she stepped out of her vehicle for her inaugural engagement in Piazza Camillo Prampolini, she was greeted by hordes of crowds waiting for her glimpse. Mayor Marco Massari was also waiting for the royal outside the square.

Catherine will receive the city’s highest honor – the “Primo Tricolore” – in recognition of her work in early childhood development.

It’s a milestone in Princess Kate’s royal duties after she recovered from her battle with cancer last year.

Ahead of Kate’s arrival, a royal aide revealed the princess was feeling “energetic, enthusiastic and excited” about her job as she was ready to launch a global mission in her job.

“I think it’s only fitting that her first international trip since her illness is focused on an issue that she is committed to championing for decades to come and is a real issue that she wants to shine a light on,” the aide said.
