The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday issued a show cause notice to MP Iqbal Afridi for what it described as repeated violations of party discipline, ordering him to submit a written explanation within seven days.
According to the notice, a copy of which is available from The Express PK Press ClubAfridi was asked to explain his position regarding a series of allegations against him.
The notice, issued by lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, president of the PTI, accused Afridi of “regularly misbehaving with party MPs”, alleging that such incidents were “sometimes filmed and broadcast on television news and social media”. He further alleged that he used “derogatory language and undignified remarks” against his fellow lawmakers.

The notice also claimed that Afridi had “systematically opposed the parliamentary decisions of the parties during the proceedings of the National Assembly”.
In another allegation, the party claimed that its “derogatory behavior was not only directed against party MPs, but also towards junior and senior officials of the National Assembly.”
Referring to an incident outside Adiala jail, the notice claimed that on June 23, Afridi had “planned an attack on party MPs” and one of his accomplices attacked several parliamentarians.
“You were personally involved in the assault. Party workers gathered in Adiala for Imran Khan’s cause; your action directly sabotaged this,” the notice said.
The PTI further alleged that Afridi’s “actions and conduct” had “publicly discredited the party” and constituted “gross misconduct, indiscipline and conduct prejudicial to party discipline and unity”.
The notice asked Afridi to explain why his basic membership should not be canceled and why he should not be expelled from the party.
“You are requested to submit your written response within seven days of receipt of this notice. Failure to respond may result in further proceedings in accordance with the party constitution,” the notice concludes.
The party warned that failure to respond within the stipulated deadline could result in further disciplinary proceedings, including cancellation of its basic membership and expulsion from the PTI.
Earlier, sources had revealed that the decision to issue a show cause notice was taken during a parliamentary meeting of the PTI party, where members discussed Afridi’s conduct and his recent altercations with his fellow party legislators.
Afridi had a falling out with PTI chief Junaid Akbar in the previous parliamentary session. He was also involved in an argument with MP Sibghatullah outside Adiala jail.
