- Samsung Display has requested screen certifications that appear to include the first 83-inch QD-OLED panel
- The new 24-inch monitor-sized panel also references
- No official word on a launch or plans for when they will appear
There’s big news in the world of QD-OLED TVs: the first 83-inch QD-OLED panel has appeared in certification listings, suggesting a launch is planned.
As FlatpanelsHD reports, the UL Solutions certification database details several Samsung Display QD-OLED panels that have undergone the organization’s QuantumView verification. And one of these panels is labeled QDOLED83.x, where the number refers to the size of the panel in inches.
The full list starts at 24 inches and spans 27 inches, 31 inches, 34 inches, 49 inches, 55 inches, 65 inches, 77 inches, and 83 inches. Until now, QD-OLED panels topped out at 77 inches.

Sizes below 55 inches are intended for monitors rather than televisions and also offer a much-awaited secret: they seem to confirm rumors concerning the arrival of a 24-inch version.
When will the 83-inch QD-OLED TV be launched?
The short answer: we don’t know. The slightly longer answer: Samsung hasn’t announced its existence, much less product plans, pricing, or launch dates… but we can make a very educated guess.
We’ve had rumors about this 83-inch panel before, and they turned out to be unfounded: the discovery of what was thought to be an 83-inch QD-OLED in Samsung’s parts database in late 2024 turned out to be the Samsung S95F, which was available in an 83-inch size, but uses a WOLED panel from LG Display for that size, and stuck with QD-OLED for the smaller sizes.
This leak seems much bigger, because it comes directly from Samsung Display (the part of the company that makes the panels, not the part that makes the TVs).
The company uses UL Solutions’ QuantumView certification as a marketing argument. For example, last week, Samsung’s press department was delighted to tell us that Samsung Display’s entire QD-OLED range has achieved this certification. This press release does not, however, detail screen sizes.
So far, Samsung hasn’t listed an 83-inch QD-OLED in its 2026 lineup, and neither has Sony, which also uses Samsung display panels. But it would be rather strange to get certified for a screen size that you don’t intend to sell.
So while an announcement doesn’t seem imminent, I would expect to see this large model become an option on TVs in 2027. It will likely be mass-produced later in 2026, ready to be assembled into TVs late this year and early next year – perfect for the usual TV cycle of announcements at CES and launches the following April or May.
In the meantime, we expect the Samsung S95H/S99H released in 2026 to use Tandem WOLED again for its 83-inch model – although that’s not a bad thing, given the performance of the LG G6 OLED TV in our test, which uses the same panel.
