Scammers will be praying for those looking for stock of the just-announced Flip 8 and Fold 8 handsets and anyone looking for a discounted deal or early release unit should watch where they’re browsing.
There will be fake stores ready to take your money, your identity and maybe throw malware at you at the same time.
There are, however, a few simple things you can do before you buy. Check the URL of the store you are in. It may look like the one you’re familiar with, but AI has made it incredibly easy to create and clone pages that look legitimate.
If you don’t recognize the store and it has a Samsung Galaxy deal or Flip and Fold 8 stock that you can’t find anywhere else, it’s most likely a scam.
There are free tools you can use, such as Google’s link checkers and NordVPN. These will scan the page before you have to click the link and tell you if the page has been compromised in any way, i.e. if there is malware or phishing attacks waiting on the other side.
They are excellent for any situation where you are unsure about a link you are viewing or that has been sent.
